Biofeedback can be an effective treatment for many mental health concerns and when paired with a comprehensive therapeutic treatment plan there are even more possibilities. I utilize biofeedback for clients as an additional means for creating the right "inner" space for my clients. Whether you are seeking assistance in reducing everyday stressors or more complex problems with longer term effects mental health therapy, when coupled with biofeedback, has the potential of greatly increasing the overall benefits of therapy alone.
The science behind biofeedback is both very theoretically simple but technically very complex. The basic theory is that your body is measure of how much stress you are under. Our minds can "protect" us from this stress by diverting our attention onto other activities or thoughts but the stress is still there. |
Biofeedback may be able to identify it and then help you to reduce and potentially eliminate it. Biofeedback utilizes a system of sensors and readers that interpret your body's responses to stress (even when you are not consciously aware of the stress) and then "feeds" this information back to you so you might then be able to BECOME conscious of it. Biofeedback can be very relaxing and even fun. |
